The bright yellow team of Chennai Super Kings takes on the royal blue, Rajasthan Royals on Monday, April 22nd at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium. Both the teams hold the no. 2 and no.1 spot for the fairplay award respectively.

They deserve themselves to be called the ‘super Kings’ with the consistent way they have performed and won over the seasons. Chennai Super Kings is the first team to register their 50th win in IPL. MS. Dhoni is one of those who has aggregated 3000 runs in IPL. The team is full of star players.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

The Rajasthan Royals have really behaved as ‘Royals’ after winning the first tournament of IPL and then some ups and downs in the following seasons. When they started off with IPL 6, they were considered underdogs and were in doubts under the captaincy of Dravid. The selfless man proved himself. The team is a well balance side with talented new comers and experienced veterans.

There is no turning point for Delhi Daredevils yet after having played six matches. Also Mumbai Indians lost to Rajasthan Royals in a rather royally way of 87 runs.

It is a slower track. Nevertheless, the last match score was not really the actions of the pitch that should be.

Delhi Daredevils (DD)

None of the DD’s members such as Sehwag, I. Pathan, Mahela are able to deliver consistently. The bowlers too such as Jeevan Mendis, Morne Morkel, Shahbaz Nadeem and Umesh Yadav have not turned the stone. Not a single win has them nothing to lose and only strive for a win in the coming match

Mumbai Indians (MI)

It is a long way for the Mumbai Indians, but the earlier match loss has affected them in run rate and pushed them to fifth position in the points table. The batting order faltered heavily because of the runs on board put by the opposition. The legendary opening pair of ‘Pondulkar’ is not working as thought to be. Also, Sling Malinga has not been able to turn his magic on.

Both the teams clashing, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals currently hold number two and one position respectively. It is going to be a true combat where RCB has played and been tested during trial situations and RR has come back from a win of a superlative margin.

The greeny wicket will assist the fast bowlers. Irrespective of the wicket, IPL 6 captains’ winning the toss believe to bat first, score runs on the board and put pressure on the opposite side.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Kohli has showed his leadership qualities in tough situations. AB de Villiers is one of the best with his unorthodox shots. The opening order with Gayle is set for RCB. The concern area is the middle order.

With Rahul Dravid leading the side has rather been overwhelming, with him winning award for innovative thinking. He truly deserves the tag, as he showed faith in his young talented boys such as A. Rahane and advancing Yagnik in batting order. It was his selfless decision that RR could win with a huge margin against MI.

They have got Hodge and Cooper in the playing XI, one of the best in the T20 format. Fulkaner and Watson playing for the team are not to be forgotten. Binny has been a budding in the side too.

The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders winning two of the five matches played will take on the former champions, Chennai Super Kings who have won three of the five matches played.

The pitch is sluggish and will help the slow bowlers.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

After losing the previous match to KXIP, KKR need to take home conditions in their favour and boost up the morale. Addition of B. McCullum should do some benefit to the team. Kallis and Bisla who did wonders in the last series needs to get back their form.

S. Narine and Lee are in the right direction to bowl. E. Morgan is praised for his finishes.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

After winning the earlier match against DD with an exorbitant margin, CSK has progressed with the higher net rate on the table. Special mention of Hussey and the captain cool Dhoni for winning them matches. CSK is fortunate to have in form all rounders delivering at the right team including D. Bravo, C. Morris and A. Morkel.

Ashwin, Jadeja and M. Sharma are delivering at the right spot and getting wickets at regular interval.

SRH have so far done well for their team owners and fans. The previous match against PWI, Amit Mishra’s splendid last over of four wickets including a hat-trick won them the match. He showed his potential for the T20 format by showing all different variations that he can bowl. There are high expectations from C. White and T. Perera. Steyn and Ishant have proved their existence in the team.

Kings XI Punjab

It is changing times for KXIP, but they need to maintain the consistency to reach the top four slot. Mandeep Singh and Gony have emerged from the previous win against KKR. Azhar Mahmood, Awana and Praveen Kumar are doing a good job.

What was considered to be a one sider in favour of Pune warriors, turned out to be a real shocker with rejuvenated Sunrisers  giving their home crowd a real money’s worth.

Openers Parthiv and PA Reddy gave a decent start with an opening stand  of 34 runs until Patel got bowled out to a beauty from Dinda .Captain Sanga  ,couldn’t keep up to the fight as he was beaten by Sharma’s good length delivery as he marched to hit down the pitch only to loose the middle stump. With 60/2, halfway through the innings, Sunrisers wickets started tumbling thanks to some disciplined bowling from Dinda, Kumar & Rahul Sharma to manage a total of just 126.

A total of 127 looked chase able on a slow turning wicket but for some slow start from Uthappa and Pandey, they could accumulate just 36 runs as they could not capitalise on the first power play. Perera and Mishra started doing some damage so much so that the wickets started falling in quick succession after Uthappa’s fall .Taylor and Nayyars’ fifth wicket stand of 32 odd  was put to a halt by Mishra picking up Nayyar of a flighted delivery which landed safely in the hands of Ishant. Steyn did the rest as he came with all guns blazing on Pune’s tailenders as he ended up with an astonishing figure of 3.5-11-3-2.86.

Mishra was awarded a much deserving man of the match as he picked up three wickets at some crucial junctures.

Delhi Daredevils entering the super over in the previous match against RCB was unable to open its points table. But the positive aspect will be the confidence to take on Chennai Super Kings on the Kotla ground on Thursday, April 18, who also has had a topsy-turvy series so far with two defeats in four matches.

The Kotla pitch seems to be a slow track making it hard for stroke players. Hence, it is expected to be a low scoring match where the side bowling second will enjoy having a low total to defend.

Delhi Daredevils

The outcome from the last game is everybody including Juneja, Rohrer, Jadhav have chipped in. Sehwag showered by his natural game. No doubts about Warner and Jayawardane’s reliable performance. Special mention about Irfan for the way he fought in the super over.

Pune warriors India will take on the newcomers for IPL 6 SunRisers Hyderabad at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium at 16:00 hrs IST. The current status of the table shows PWI to be second from the bottom and SRH to be fourth from the top.

In the first encounter of IPL 6 where SRH played host to PWI, Hyderabad won by 22 runs.

Pune Warriors India

PWI have won 1 match at their home ground and would like to believe they can do it yet again in the second encounter.
